MEKONG REGION LAW SCHOOL CONSORTIUM

Cambodia - Guangxi - Laos - Myanmar - Thailand - Vietnam - Yunnan

CMLC is promoting a formal grouping of regional law schools to work together on joint research and publication, student exchanges, scholarship support, and annual symposia on issues of law, public policy and legal education in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). By creating such a network, CMLC believes schools will be able to better improve their overall academics, share ideas, and raise awareness of the importance of the GMS. Collaboration will help in the quest to transform regional legal education; education designed to prepare students for the challenges of solving/mitigating the GMS’s myriad of legal problems and improving the lives of citizens of GMS countries.

Toward this end, CMLC has been actively facilitating partnerships between our main Asia partner faculty, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, Nongkhai Campus, and other law schools in the GMS.  Consortium members now include Hue University of Law (Vietnam);  Pannasastra University of Cambodia, (Faculty of Law and Public Policy); National University of Laos (Faculty of Law and Political Science); and (pending return to civilian rule in Myanmar), Yadanabon University (Law Department in Mandalay, Myanmar).

CMLC hope the Consortium will expand and come to manage future academic symposia, and maybe a Mekong Region Law and Public Policy Research Series or even a regional law journal.  To achieve these goals, CMLC needs funding to hire local academics to manage these initiatives.  So please donate.
